Civic Advocacy & Policy Reform
Rewriting the Rules of Opportunity
Last Updated: March 9, 2026
At the Dion Black Foundation, we recognize that technology and training are only two pieces of the puzzle. To create lasting change, we must also address the systemic barriers that limit our community's potential. We don’t just work within the system; we advocate to improve it.
Our Advocacy Focus Areas:
Digital Equity Reform: We work alongside community leaders to advocate for universal high-speed internet access. Through our partnership with Starlink, we demonstrate to policymakers that connectivity is a fundamental right, not a luxury.
Youth Restoration Policy: Through the Black Blueprint, we advocate for legislative changes that support youth re-entry. We believe in policies that prioritize "rehabilitation over incarceration," ensuring that a past mistake doesn't prevent a future career in IT, Finance, or Aviation.
Workforce Inclusion: We push for the modernization of licensing and certification requirements. We believe that professional industries—especially Aviation and Finance—should be accessible to everyone based on merit and training, not just financial background.
Henry County & Beyond: While we are rooted in the Stockbridge and Henry County communities, we take our fight to the state and federal levels. We identify outdated rules, propose equitable solutions, and support initiatives that foster economic growth for all.
"We believe in rewriting the narrative—and sometimes, that starts by helping to rewrite the rules."
